Research Comparison
Adipotide vs Retatrutide
A side-by-side research comparison of Adipotide and Retatrutide drawn from DRPSHP' peptide database records.
Adipotide
Adipotide, also catalogued as prohibitin-TP01, is a designed two-part molecule rather than something found in nature. One half is a homing sequence, CKGGRAKDC, a cyclic nine-residue peptide closed by a disulfide bond, which was picked out of phage-display libraries because it accumulates in the vasculature of white fat. The other half is D-(KLAKLAK)2, a synthetic amphipathic chain built from D-amino acids that has been used as a pro-apoptotic payload in other conjugates. Experiments were carried out in obese mice and then in rhesus monkeys, where changes in kidney tubule function were noted. Human data are very scarce, and most publications trace back to the group that engineered it.
Retatrutide
Retatrutide (development code LY3437943) is a synthetic peptide designed to stimulate three hormone receptors at once: those for GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. GIP and GLP-1 are incretins, hormones the gut releases in response to food, while glucagon comes from the alpha cells of the pancreas, and all three receptors belong to one family. Earlier synthetic agonists of this family acted on one or two of the receptors; retatrutide's distinguishing feature is engaging all three. Its pharmacology has been described in cell assays and animal studies, and it has been examined in human clinical trials in metabolic disease.
Reading a comparison
A comparison places two records side by side; it does not merge them. Each description above is drawn from that compound's own record, and the two were not necessarily characterised by the same methods, at the same time, or to the same level of detail. Before comparing any attribute, it is worth establishing that both records describe the substance you think they describe — names are not identifiers, and two entries sharing a name can differ in salt form, stereochemistry or the convention used to state a mass. Where a figure carries no method beside it, the comparison is between two reported numbers rather than between two measurements.
